Benfotiamine and ALS
I feel quite fortunate to have introduced benfotiamine to the American medical community some 17 years ago. Since that time, it has been used to improve neurological function in the feet and legs of thousands of people. I have frequently heard of individuals who–while using benfotiamine for their lower extremity neurological symptoms–have experienced improvement in symptoms unrelated to their lower extremity neuropathy.
I've written a paper on the most interesting of these cases, a gentleman with ALS. Cureus, a highly respected peer reviewed journal, just published it. I am very proud of this work and would like to share it with my colleagues.
The paper can be found at: https://www.cureus.com/articles/157487-impaired-thiamine-metabolism-in-amyotrophic-lateral-sclerosis-and-its-potential-treatment-with-benfotiamine-a-case-report-and-a-review-of-the-literature
